What Content Uploader keeps, for how long, and how to export or delete it
How long your uploaded files, run history, account data, invitations and billing records are kept, what stays on your websites, and how to ask for an export of your data.

This page says what happens to your data in plain words. The privacy policy is the binding text; the periods below are the ones it promises and the product enforces.
What stays on your websites#
Everything published stays on your sites. Content Uploader writes items to your WordPress or Joomla site; once an item is there it belongs to your site. Deleting a configuration, disconnecting a site, cancelling a plan or closing the workspace never deletes anything from your websites. Content Uploader never deletes content on a site at all.
Your uploaded files#
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| The original file you uploaded (CSV, Excel or OpenDocument), the ZIP of images that came with it, and images prepared for publishing | Deleted automatically 30 days after the upload. The run page then says Original file removed after 30 days, and Download file disappears. |
| The rows read from an upload, the changes found in them, and the log of the run and of each attempt to publish | Kept for 12 months after the upload, so that you can review past runs, then deleted. A short record of each run, with its counts and results, stays. |
| What was last published to each item | Stays, because the next upload is compared with it. This is what lets next week's file find that an item is unchanged. |
What the 30 days mean in practice:
- You cannot Read again a file whose original is gone, but a run can still be checked again from its stored rows for up to 12 months.
- A file that was never published and whose original is gone must be uploaded again to be published.
- Once an image has been delivered to a site, Content Uploader keeps only a record of what was sent, not the image itself. That record is enough for next week's spreadsheet to find that the site already has the image.
After 12 months the page of an old run says The rows of this upload were deleted a year after it was uploaded. The counts and results stay; upload the file again to check or publish it. A run that was still waiting for a mapping or a review at that point is ended as failed first.
Your account#
- Account details are kept while the account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, password, two-factor settings, passkeys, connected sign-in accounts and security activity are deleted, and you are removed from your workspaces. A workspace that only you belonged to is deleted with the account (see below). Activity records in workspaces you shared stay but no longer name you.
- Security activity (the sign-in list in Settings → Security) is kept while the account exists; the IP address and browser of each event are erased after 12 months.
- Invitations, with the address they were sent to, are deleted 30 days after they were accepted, withdrawn or expired.
- Billing records such as invoices and payment history are kept as long as tax and accounting law require, even after you delete your account.
- Analytics data (only if you allowed analytics cookies) is kept for up to 14 months.
Deleting your account or workspace#
You can delete your account yourself from Settings → Profile (delete your account). The workspaces that only you belong to are deleted with it. The one case it refuses is an account that owns a workspace other people still use: remove them from it first, or write to support.
A workspace is deleted in two cases: its last member left or deleted their account, or it is a Free workspace that nobody used for 12 months, after two emails to its owners. It is not erased at once:
| When | What happens |
|---|---|
| The moment it is deleted | The workspace is locked, and its paid plan, if it has one, ends at once without a refund of the rest of the period. |
| For 30 days | It can be restored. The owners of an unused Free workspace do it themselves; for a workspace whose last member left, write to support. |
| After 30 days | Its configurations, uploaded files, run history and site connections are erased for good. |
What you published to your sites stays on them, and invoices stay as the law requires. A short record that the workspace was deleted (its number, why and the dates, without a name or content) is kept, and backups hold the data until they are replaced. A deleted workspace has the details.
Deleting a configuration (at the bottom of the configuration editor) only hides it and its upload history from the workspace: its versions, runs and results are kept, nothing is removed from your websites, and a new configuration for the same site and content type recognises what was published before and updates it instead of creating duplicates. There is no way to restore a deleted configuration from the interface.
Exporting your data#
You can export your data at any time, free of charge. An export holds your source files while Content Uploader still keeps them, the rows read from them, your configurations and their versions, change sets, publishing results, the people in the workspace with the sites each may use, and the workspace's activity history. It does not hold connection credentials (they cannot be exported for security reasons) or data about how the service works internally.
- An owner of the workspace asks for it: write to support from the owner's email address and say which workspace.
- Content Uploader prepares one ZIP file of CSV and JSON files and emails the owner a link, The export of your data is ready. Sign in as an owner to download it. The link works for 7 days and the file is deleted soon after.
Exports go only to owners, because they list every site's data. The export is completed within 30 days of the request.
Where the data is#
Your workspace data, including your uploaded files, is stored in the European Union. Payments are handled by Stripe. The privacy policy lists the service providers and what each does, and security and data handling summarises how the data is protected.
