How to use them#
- Use a test site, or a site where extra posts do no harm. Publishing creates real items.
- Open the tutorial for the file (the last column above) and follow it, or simply create a configuration from the file.
- Upload the file, read the review, and publish.
- To try an update, edit the file (change a title, add a row) and upload it again: the changed rows show as updated, the new rows as new.
About the data#
- Everything in the files is fictional: the articles, the author names, the dates and the harbour names.
- The record IDs (
HLJ-001…) are what Content Uploader uses to recognise each item next week, so do not renumber them between uploads. - The WordPress and Joomla variants differ only where the two systems differ (for example the status names).
- The workbook
06-advanced-articles.xlsxis meant to be uploaded together with06-advanced-images.zip. - To make your own file, start from the one that is closest to your content and keep its header row (recommended structure).
Cleaning up afterwards#
Content Uploader never deletes content, so remove the practice items on your site yourself: in WordPress, search the posts for the titles and move them to the trash; in Joomla, do the same under Content → Articles. Categories and tags that were created stay until you delete them.
