Here is the whole journey in six steps, with a link to the full guide for each. You can do it with the example file in about fifteen minutes, even if you have never imported anything before.
| Step | What you do | Time | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Create an account. Name, email, password; confirm your email address. A workspace is created for you. | 2 min | Create an account |
| 2 | Connect your site. Install the connector (a WordPress plugin or a Joomla extension), choose Connect on your site, approve the workspace in Content Uploader. | 5 min | Connect your first website |
| 3 | Prepare a spreadsheet. A header row and one row per item. Download the example file to start. | 2 min | Prepare your first spreadsheet |
| 4 | Create a configuration. Choose the sample file, the destination, the record ID column and, where needed, change what each field takes. Save. | 5 min | Publish your first items |
| 5 | Drop the file and review. The page shows what will be created, updated and left alone. | 1 min | How the review works |
| 6 | Publish. One button. Your site changes only now. | 1 min | Publishing your changes |
Before you begin#
- A WordPress site (6.6 or later) or a Joomla site (5 or 6), served over HTTPS at a public address. Supported platforms has the details.
- An administrator account on that site.
- Nothing needs to be installed on your computer: Content Uploader runs in the browser.
The same thing, every week#
After the first time, the work is two steps:
- Drop this week's file on its card.
- Read the review and press Publish.
Items that did not change are recognised and left alone, changed items are updated in place, and new items are created: no duplicates, no overwriting by mistake. How it works explains why, and update existing content shows a complete second week.
If you get stuck#
- Something on a screen is unclear: dashboard tour and important concepts.
- A message appeared that you do not understand: search for its text in the box at the top of this page, or look in troubleshooting.
- You want to see an import end to end with real data: the tutorials.
