A team member cannot see a site, a configuration or an upload

Why a person in your workspace sees nothing, or fewer sites and files than you do, how access per site works, and how an owner gives or takes it back.

In a workspace, owners see and do everything. A team member reaches only the sites an owner gave them, and what belongs to those sites. That is deliberate, and it explains most of the "I cannot see it" questions.

Symptoms#

  • A team member signs in and sees an empty Dashboard and Sites page, with You have not been given a site in this workspace yet.
  • A configuration, upload or publishing result that the owner sees is missing for a colleague.
  • A colleague cannot connect or disconnect a site, choose the active sites, invite people or change the plan.
  • Someone lost sight of a site, and stopped getting emails about it.

Likely causes#

Confirmed (reproduced in our tests of the team flow):

  1. No site was given. The person's row in the People list says No site yet.
  2. The site is not one of theirs. A team member's Dashboard lists only configurations that publish to their sites; Sites lists only those sites and their results; Uploads and the badges follow the same rule.
  3. An owner took the site away. Removed sites disappear from that person's screens at once.
  4. The action is an owner's. Connecting and disconnecting sites, choosing active sites, the plan and billing, inviting people and the data export are for owners.
  5. They are looking at the wrong workspace. Everyone who is invited also keeps a workspace of their own; the sidebar switcher chooses which is shown.

Step-by-step solution#

For the person who cannot see something

  1. Check the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar: are you in the workspace you mean?
  2. Open Team. It lists the sites you can use and whom to write to for more.
  3. Ask an owner to give you the site.

For the owner

  1. Open Team → People and find the person.
  2. Select Change sites, tick the sites they should use, and Save. The change applies at once.
  3. If what they need is an owner's action (connecting a site, the plan, inviting someone), do it yourself. A team member cannot be made an owner: the owner of a workspace stays its owner (team members).

How to verify#

  • The person's Dashboard shows the configurations for their sites, and Sites shows the sites.
  • In the People list, their row names the sites they use.

If it persists#

Contact support from the owner's address with the person's address and the site's address.
